The construction of a swimming pool is one of the aesthetic concerns of all pool owners. For new swimming pool constructions, the most time-consuming thing is the paperwork. The actual construction of a concrete swimming pool takes us about 2 weeks. The first step in the construction of the swimming pool is to retain an architect. The architect will draw up plans and submit these for approval. Once the plans have been stamped, we can move on to applying for the building license. This can take anywhere from a few weeks to 12 months, depending on the area.
When the paperwork is completed and approved we can break ground. We favor sprayed gunite concrete for small domestic pools. The pool form is excavated to the required dimensions, and brick shuttering is built. Once this is in place, steel reinforcing is put into place, along with the pipes and light buckets. The concrete is then sprayed at the wall under high pressure to a depth of around 200mm.
The process of construction swimming pool
There are many steps involved in building a new pool and they are outlined below
Excavation
After marking the outline of the swimming pool, excavation is carried out as per the requirement with extra allowance for the various equipment that is required to be installed in the structure e.g. main drain, light housings, skimmers, pipelines, wiring conduits, etc.
P.C.C:
Plain concrete cement for footings and floor of the swimming pool of desired thickness and mix.
Rafting and R.C.C:
Steel for reinforcement as required by our structural design is laid on the base and wall area of the swimming pool.
Plumbing:
During civil construction, all piping distribution networks are solidly bonded and the entire plumbing system hydrostatically pressures tested.
Shuttering:
Shuttering is placed on the inside of the swimming pool wall after which concrete is poured all over as per the structural details.
Plastering:
A plaster is provided into which roof liquid is mixed which is a mortar plasticizer & an integral waterproofing agent which makes the mortar watertight and also provides good workability. In all the structure, as such becomes watertight.
Chemical Treatment:
The surface of the joint area e.g. floor and wall will be treated with roof liquid to ensure proper sealing of all overlap joints.
Ponding:
After waterproofing the pool is tested for water retention for 100 % of waterproofing.
Tiling:
After concreting work and waterproofing the most important work is to select the tiles for outer finishing.
Decking:
On the deck area, the planters and foot decking are provided. The stone, granite, or tiles are used as a finishing for the swimming pool deck.
Coping:
The edge of the swimming pool natural stone is provided for the final finishing of the swimming pool.
